Massage Style Descriptions

We usually recommend a Swedish Massage for first-time clients. For clients that are coming to alleviate pain, however, we recommend the Therapeutic Massage. Please peruse these descriptions, who they are recommended for, and who they are not recommended for. Please contact the spa at phone/text 862-268-3213 with any questions!

Swedish: a flowing style massage that promotes circulation, overall wellbeing, clears congested fascia, and supports relaxation. Light to firm pressure is applied based on preferences.

Recommended for first time clients, children ages 8 and up, and clients who haven’t had a massage in over 6 months.

Therapeutic/Medical: a deeper pressure massage designed to break up tension and adhesions to reduce chronic pain in specific target areas. Medical massage techniques such as Myofascial Release, Trigger Point Therapy, Neuromuscular Therapy, etc. are applied per therapist’s expertise.

Recommended for clients who want to “work out the knots”, adult athletes, and clients with chronic pain conditions. Dr’s note may apply and this massage may be tax deductible if your doctor prescribes it!

Lymphatic Drainage: also known as “MLD (Manual Lymphatic Drainage) – a very light pressure massage that targets the movement of the lymphatic system of the body. Gentle semi-circular strokes are applied in a specific way and in a specific sequence to open the drainage ports of the body and increase lymphatic flow about 10X faster than normal. Clients remain fully clothed during their session, but are recommended to wear loose fitted clothing.

Reduces brain fog, swelling, pain associated with stagnant fluid, and supports weight loss, insomnia, healthy skin glow, and immune function.

Recommended for clients healing from lymphedema, clients looking for a full body detoxification, any kind of edema (swelling), vascular conditions, and may be helpful in easing long covid symptoms via detoxification process. Reflexology: a specific massage targeting the hands and feet only. Your therapist will work to open the energetic connections of every organ and part of the body via the specific areas of the hands and feet. A combination of flowing Swedish and trigger point reflexology technique is applied.

Reflexology can easily be incorporated into a Swedish or Therapeutic Massage if you want some benefits alongside a full body massage.

Recommended specifically for clients healing from neuropathy. Dr’s note may apply and this massage may be tax deductible if your doctor prescribes it!

Aromatherapy: the application of therapeutic grade essential oils into your massage! Aromatherapy is integrated into all our massage services, so no need to ask specifically for Aromatherapy! You may certainly ask for NO aromatherapy as well and we can accommodate you easily.


Hot Stone: the application of heated basalt stones are masterfully applied inside your massage. The stones may vary in temperature, but it produces a deeply relaxing experience while gently easing muscle tension.

Recommended for clients who often feel cold, those who are looking to relax very deeply, and those who generally enjoy warmth during massage.

Not Recommended for clients with serious medical conditions, high blood pressure, heat sensitivity, skin conditions, and cardiac conditions. Please call the spa if you have questions.


Myofascial Release: aka MFR Massage, this technique utilizes steady, very slow stretching of your skin and muscles to support tension release. Light to firm pressure is used depending on client condition and fascia needs. Little to no lotion is applied. Arms and legs may also be stretched during the session.

Recommended for upper back/shoulder/neck/head pain, clients healing from inflammatory conditions like fibromyalgia, and clients who need deeper work but don’t want to feel pain. Dr’s note may apply and this massage may be tax deductible if your doctor prescribes it!

Not Recommended for clients with serious medical conditions or are prone to overstretching. Please call the spa if you have questions.


Cupping: a massage that utilizes pressurized silicone cups to create “negative pressure” or “upwards pressure” for chronic pain conditions. Cups may be stationary or dynamically moved along the fascia. Therapeutic massage is integrated inside of a cupping session. It’s difficult to receive a full body massage unless a 100-minute massage is scheduled as the cups require time to create a therapeutic affect. More typically this is a targeted massage for the painful area(s). Very effective. Will leave circular marks on the skin for 7-10 days.

Note: Rev. Denise is the only therapist that offers Fire Cupping with glass cups. This style is deeper than traditional cupping and can be painful when moved around. It is ideal for moving stagnant, congested energy and fascia.

Recommended for clients with chronic pain conditions and healing muscle injuries (not in the acute stage). Dr’s note may apply and this massage may be tax deductible if your doctor prescribes it!

Not Recommended for clients with serious medical conditions, skin conditions, blood disorders, or heart conditions. Please call the spa if you have questions.


Pregnancy: for pregnant women in 2nd and 3rd trimesters. Alleviates pain due to pregnancy with light to firm pressure. Relaxes Mommy and Baby with soothing style massage. Helps Moms find comfort in their body again.

Recommended for all pregnant women outside of her first trimester. If this is a high risk pregnancy, please get a dr’s note before coming for your service so we can ensure you receive the best treatment for your needs.


Oncology: specifically for clients undergoing either active chemotherapy or recovering from chemotherapy treatments. Specialized massage to help clients relax and restore body mind and spirit. Avoids port areas and pressure is usually light to moderate.

Recommended for clients healing from cancer conditions and undergoing either active chemotherapy or post chemo treatments. Dr’s note may apply and this massage may be tax deductible if your doctor prescribes it!


Couples: Massage where two people receive massage in the same room. Each therapist will address the needs of each person. Not just for romantic couples, a couples massage can be for parent/child, friends, siblings, anyone!

Couples Massage availability is dependent on room availability. Please consider calling the spa to ensure the “Radiance Room” is available prior to booking. Otherwise, our staff will see an online booking request and request a change if the room is not available.

Recommended for everyone where massage is appropriate!


Spa Body Treatments: Specialized skin care treatment (exfoliation, mud treatment, citrus scrub, etc.) is applied and a full body massage with moisturizing cream is utilized. Usually a Swedish style massage in indicated with body treatments due to the nature of the treatment.
